Blackburn Meadows Renewable Energy Plant, Sheffield
Blackburn Meadows in Sheffield is a biomass-fueled combined heat and power plant that became fully operational in 2015. It uses recycled waste wood sourced from within the UK to generate electrical and thermal energy to power up to 69,000 homes and businesses in the South Yorkshire region. This reduces carbon emissions by up to 65% when compared to natural gas which is vital to our local communities, building a more sustainable future. Carter Group were thrilled to be instructed to undertake the Security upgrade works which consisted of CCTV, Access Control and Perimeter Fence Alarm.
Experience
Security is vital to the key operations of any business when protecting staff and preventing unwanted visitors so it is important to continue to review the performance of existing systems. Our team consisting of Project Manager and installation team worked closely with the client to understand requirements and provide key recommendations to upgrade the current systems using new technology to improve performance with a cost effect solution. The existing analogue CCTV System was replaced with a new IP CCTV system utilizing the existing cabling infrastructure. Additional doors were added to the access control system providing ultimate control over access to new secured and vulnerable areas. Finally, the existing analogue perimeter fence alarm was upgraded to a digital system with CCTV integration to the onsite control room using the latest technology to achieve the evolving business needs.
