Project Overview
Montgomerie is a Primary Academy which is part of the Robus Multi Academy Trust based in Benfleet, Essex. With an occupancy of approximately 200 students aged between 4 and 11, safety improvement works are imperative to the ongoing protection of the occupants. Carter Group were engaged to become the Principal Contractor to undertake the Electrical and Fire Safety Improvements along with associated works. Planning and management was key to the success of this project with minimal disruption to the day to day operations of the school.

Our appointed Project Manager worked closely with the client and third party consultant providing initial design proposals, management of the construction program, coordinating and communicating with all trades and ensuring compliance with CDM regulations. Electrical & Fire Safety Compliance
Scope of Works
Electrical re-wire,
Distribution Boards,

Fire Alarm
To design and install a new fully functioning fire alarm system in compliance with an L2 system to protect all areas of high risk all carried out to BS5839 regulations.
LED Lighting and Emergency Lighting
To design and install a new LED lighting system throughout the school including emergency lighting and illuminated fire exit signage.
Electrical re-wire
Design and install a new galvanised steel cable trunking, tray and conduit containment system. These works included mains incoming, mains switch gear, sub main distribution, small power and lighting.
Fire Doors
Installation of new fire doors replacing all internal doors that do not comply with Building Regulations 2010 and BS 8214:2008.
Building Services
Installation of suspended ceilings throughout, newly formed office partitions, carpentry for bespoke storage cupboards and redecoration to all areas included within the improvement works.
