Quattro Group Depots

Providing professionally managed services to the rail, road and construction services across the UK and Europe, Quattro Group is one of the UK largest providers of infrastructure equipment to the largest names in transport and engineering.

Delivering core equipment from across 16 depots in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, Quattro Group – comprised of Quattro Plant, AB2k and Quattro B.V. – is a 24/7 operation, with busy offices and depots needing continual monitoring and support from cutting-edge technology.

Quattro Group contacted the Carter Group to undertake a full review of the organisation’s on-site requirements, requesting a project plan to help ensure that the depots, teams and busy machines were protected all day, every day. From Aberdeen, to Newton Abbot, via the Netherlands and Ireland, every Quattro Group depot needed a full overhaul, and no stone was left unturned.

As well as delivering a comprehensive set of solutions across the entire Quattro Group, the security team at Carter Group also work closely with each depot to ensure that every element is maintained, with new solutions being included as the requirements of this busy organisation change and develop.

CCTV Installations

Each Quattro Group depot has a number of locations within the depot space that need monitoring 24/7. Working closely with the teams within the depots, the Carter Group security team were able to identify the best locations for cameras that would give a clear view of these areas, which feed back into monitor banks within the main office.

Intruder Alarms Installation, maintenance and monitoring

Quattro Group owns one of the largest fleets of infrastructure vehicles in the UK. With such a significant asset bank located at their city-centre depots, security is of the utmost concern. In case of any intruders on site, a fool-proof alarm system is required to raise the alarm should any unwanted visitors find their way onto any depot location.

Using the very latest in detection and monitoring technology, the Carter Security team installed comprehensive intruder alarms which were set to sound upon any breach. Cutting-edge anti-tamper systems meant that the alarms are not vulnerable to damage. Any alarm raised is set to alert the local police force, as well as notifying the London head office directly, allowing the Quattro Group management team to provide regional staff and police any appropriate support.

Installation of automatic gates or barriers

A strong barrier system is needed at every location to keep the vital fleet safe and sound.

Every Quattro Group site is different, some are located within large industrial estates, other as stand-alone locations on busy road systems. With each depot needing a different solution, there was no ‘one size fits all’ option that worked for the group, so the Carter Group security team devised a bespoke package for each site.

Some depots are protected by automated gates, whilst others work better with a barrier system. The Carter Group team took all security and space requirements into account when making the suggestions for each site, an are confident that every depot is fully and completely protected.

Access Control and Intercom systems

With over 700 staff working around the clock across the Quattro Group sites, ensuing that everyone is able to guarantee an easy access to depots, offices and workshops is key. The substantial barrier systems installed at every site ensure that the area is secure, but created an obvious challenge when it comes to letting the staff, and visitors in!

A digital fob-entry system was connected to the depot barrier system, and a personalised fob provided to all staff members, allowing quick access through. The fobs work across all Quattro Group sites, so when staff work at different location across the UK (very common for this nationwide team) they can enter different offices with ease.

An automotive number plate recognition system (ANPR), pre-programmed with all depot-specific staff vehicle details and the details of Quattro Group heavy vehicles, also automatically opens the barriers on approach, helping keep traffic moving during busy periods.

For visitors, the barrier systems also have the option to call the reception desk of every depot. Manned 24/7, the reception team can then open the barriers remotely, via the in-unit handset.

Time and attendance system for staff clocking in/out

With maintenance on our nation’s railways and construction sites taking place around the clock, it is no surprise that Quattro Group teams don’t always keep 9am to 5pm hours.

With team members clocking in and out of depots at all hours of the day and night, a digital time and attendance system is key to ensuring that it is easy to keep track of who is present on site, and to make life far easier for finance at the end of every month!

In order not to over load team members with a raft of technology to use, Carter Group combined the access control solutions used on the barrier systems with the attendance system, with each fob tap in (or scan of a vehicle registration) counting as a clock in, or out. This data is fed to a central system, which can then be accessed by the appropriate team members within head office. cartersecurityltd.com
